Who do we look after?

Many of our patients are in Seoul for a set period: expat families on a posting, international-school students, professionals on contracts and university students. Their questions are often the same — who will explain things in English, what will my insurer need, and what if we move before treatment ends?

Two board-certified specialists work side by side here. Dr. Sally Chaekyung Lee leads orthodontics for children, teens and adults , and Dr. Ho-seon Lee leads kids’ dentistry . You can read about both on our doctors page .

How does English support work at Yonsei Baro?

Dr. Lee speaks fluent English and personally handles your consultation and every treatment explanation. She is the one orthodontist who sees you from first consultation to the end of treatment, so you never repeat your story to a new doctor.

Messages sent by WhatsApp or email are answered in English. For children’s dental visits, let us know when you book that you’d like English support — Dr. Sally Chaekyung Lee and our team can help explain your child’s care in English. If you’d like to learn a few useful words, our Korean dental terms glossary covers words you will see on forms and receipts.

Insurance, receipts and payment

We do not bill insurers directly. Card payment is accepted, and on request we prepare English receipts, itemized statements, medical certificates and doctor’s letters so you can claim from overseas or private insurance. See insurance claims and English receipts and how fees and payment work .

Orthodontic treatment is generally not covered by Korea’s National Health Insurance, though some children’s preventive care may be. Our NHIS guide for foreign residents explains the basics.

Planning around a fixed term in Korea

If you know when you are likely to leave, tell us at your first visit. Dr. Lee will be realistic about what can be achieved in the time you have, and if you move before treatment ends we prepare a complete transfer package in English. Read more about moving during treatment , or, if you are arriving with braces or aligners already in place, about continuing treatment started abroad .

International patient FAQs

  • Do I need to speak Korean to be treated at Yonsei Baro?

No. Dr. Sally Chaekyung Lee holds orthodontic consultations and explains every treatment step in fluent English, and WhatsApp and email messages are answered in English. For children’s dental visits, mention when you book that you’d like English support so we can help explain your child’s care in English.

  • Can I contact the clinic before I arrive in Korea?

Yes. WhatsApp and email work from anywhere, so you can send us your concern, your arrival date and any previous orthodontic records before you move. We can answer general questions and suggest appointment times. A diagnosis and treatment plan, however, always need an examination in person.

  • Can I get receipts my overseas insurer will accept?

We provide English receipts, itemized statements, medical certificates and doctor’s letters on request. Every insurer has its own requirements, so ask yours in advance which documents and codes they need, then tell us. We do not bill insurers directly; you pay the clinic and claim reimbursement yourself.

  • How do I find the clinic from Isu Station?

Take Exit 2 at Isu Station, served by Line 4 and Line 7. The clinic is on the 4th floor of Bangbae Yedain Plaza, about a one-minute walk with direct underground access. For a taxi, show the driver this address: 서울 서초구 동작대로 118 방배예다인프라자 4층.

This page is general information, not a diagnosis. Treatment results and duration vary from person to person. Orthodontic treatment can cause temporary discomfort and, in some cases, root shortening, gum recession or tooth decay if oral hygiene is poor; teeth can relapse if retainers are not worn as instructed. For children, your child’s dentist will recommend care after an examination.

Questions before you book?
