Children’s dentistry and orthodontics under one roof
Moving abroad means finding a new dentist for everyone at once. Here, two board-certified specialists work in the same clinic.
Dr. Ho-seon Lee , board-certified pediatric dentist, leads children’s dentistry : check-ups and cleanings , fluoride , sealants , fillings and crowns for baby teeth, laughing-gas sedation , and dental injuries or urgent visits. Please contact us for pediatric dentistry appointment times.
Dr. Sally Chaekyung Lee , board-certified orthodontist and Adjunct Professor of Orthodontics at Yonsei University, leads orthodontics for every age, from early checks for young children to teen braces and aligners and adult treatment .
Because both doctors are on site, they can work together when a child’s care overlaps — for example, keeping space after a baby tooth is lost early, or keeping teeth healthy and free of decay while a teenager wears braces.
Will my child’s dentist speak English?
For orthodontics, yes: Dr. Lee speaks fluent English and personally handles every consultation and treatment explanation, for children and parents alike. Messages by WhatsApp and email are answered in English.
For children’s dental visits, let us know when you book that you’d like English support — Dr. Sally Chaekyung Lee and our team can help explain your child’s care in English. If your child is nervous about a new dentist in a new country, read our tips for anxious children .
Care for parents, too
Many adults decide to straighten their own teeth once the children are settled. There is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment as long as the gums and supporting bone are healthy. Dr. Lee had orthodontic re-treatment herself in her thirties, so she understands the practical questions adults have about work, appearance and comfort.
Options include Invisalign clear aligners , tooth-coloured ceramic braces and lingual braces fitted behind the teeth. If your teeth have moved since braces you had as a teenager, see orthodontic re-treatment .
Fitting dental visits around school and work
Our hours are designed with busy weeks in mind:
- Monday and Thursday: 1:00–9:00 PM, so older children and working parents can come after school or work
- Tuesday and Friday: 10:00 AM–7:00 PM (lunch 1–2 PM)
- Saturday: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM, no lunch break
- Closed Wednesday, Sunday and public holidays
Once orthodontic treatment starts, braces are usually checked about every 4–6 weeks and aligners about every 6–10 weeks. If you have more than one family member to book, tell us when you get in touch and we will look for times that suit everyone.
Settling in: what to bring from your previous dentist
Before you leave home, ask your dentist and orthodontist for copies of recent X-rays, treatment notes and any orthodontic scans or photographs. Bring them to your first visit, with any retainers or aligners being worn.
If a family member is already in braces or aligners, Dr. Lee can review the records and appliances and discuss how to carry on. See continuing treatment started abroad . For a full checklist, read about your first visit .
When should children have their first orthodontic check?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by about age 7. Many children that age do not need treatment yet; the visit is to spot problems such as crossbites, crowding or habits early, and to decide whether to watch and wait. Our guide on when a child should see an orthodontist lists the signs to look for.
When your posting ends
Tell us your expected departure date at the first visit. Dr. Lee will plan treatment around it and, if you move before treatment ends, prepare complete English records, digital 3D scans, X-rays, photographs and progress notes for your next orthodontist. Read more about moving during treatment .
Expat family FAQs
Can my child and I be seen on the same day?
We will try. Tell us who needs to be seen and for what when you get in touch, and we will look for appointments close together. Orthodontic visits and children’s dental visits are led by different specialists, so availability can differ; we will suggest the nearest practical times for your family.
We have just moved to Seoul. When is my child due for a check-up?
If your child’s last check-up was around six months ago, it is a good time to book. How often children need check-ups depends on their individual risk of decay, so the dentist may suggest a different interval. Bring any recent X-rays or dental notes from home.
Does my child need to see both the pediatric dentist and the orthodontist?
Not always. The pediatric dentist looks after the health of the teeth and gums; the orthodontist looks at how teeth and jaws are growing and fitting together. If either doctor notices something the other should assess, they can arrange it within the clinic.
What should we do if a child injures a tooth outside clinic hours?
Outside our hours, go to a hospital emergency department; for breathing problems, heavy bleeding or a head injury, call 119. If a permanent tooth is knocked out, time matters. Our page on dental injuries explains first aid, including how to store a knocked-out tooth.
We are in Korea for two years. Is it worth starting braces here?
It can be. Some problems can be fully corrected within that time, while longer cases can be started here and continued by an orthodontist in your next country. Dr. Lee will give you a realistic view of what fits your timeline after an examination. See short stays in Seoul.

This page is general information, not a diagnosis. Every child is different; your child’s dentist will recommend care after an examination. Orthodontic treatment results and duration vary; treatment can cause temporary discomfort and, in some cases, root shortening, gum recession or tooth decay if oral hygiene is poor, and teeth can relapse if retainers are not worn as instructed. In an emergency involving breathing, heavy bleeding, a head injury or facial swelling spreading toward the eye or neck, call 119.
